Duquesa de Cardona Hotel 4 Sup by Duquessa Hotel Collection

For several years now, whenever we are in Barcelona, we stay at this hotel, which combines high-class rooms with excellent and very friendly service. In addition, the breakfasts are rich and very tasty, and the food on the terrace, which we tried recently, was very good. And we are foodies :-) The hotel also has a very convenient location for exploring the Gothic Quarter and is close to the cruise ship port. Highly recommended!

What’s wonderful hotel. The only complaint would be a lack of drawers. Our room looks like a laundromat with our clothes piled everywhere. There’s a wardrobe but only one tiny drawer that looks like a thin, narrow desk drawer under the safe. Breakfast is to die for. Fernando, who manages the breakfast room is awesome. He takes such amazing care of each guest and ensures he can meet every little request. He is is an extremely hard worker, checking in quality and quantity of offerings and managing a large staff complement. He’d be a gift to any 5-Star hotel!!

Not the best - very disappointed. This is not a 4 star hotel, by any imagination. Having worked for a luxury, 5-star hotel, I tend to put a more critical view of other establishments - but this hotel, is not the best. When you offer your guests a white, plastic hair dryer, with no nozzel, nailed to the bathroom wall, you are "old". People expect fabulous hair dryers, not tied to a wall as well as flat irons. There's only one narrow drawer in our entire room. One. Not even the bed end tables have a drawer - so clothes are everywhere - in piles. Breakfast is not what people claim it to be. It is lacking in food to be frank - no eggs whatsoever when we arrived. You cannot order omlettes or specialty coffee. Coffee comes from a large coffee machine in tiny cups. Staff appear disorganized. When we arrived we were told we can simply provide our room number at breakfast for billing. This became an unnecessarily, embarrassing issue when we arrived for breakfast. It took 3 staff to figure this out. Room staff are wonderful - that's the great part. And front desk staff are amazing. The gym does not open until 9am and you have to go to the front desk to be checked into the gym and given a pass. This too, is old!! People live and work 24hours a day now. Not 9 - 5. And if you want an early workout before heading out, too bad. It's as though the prefer you not use their gym. All in all - avoid this hotel. If you want a high standard hotel, stay at Hotel1898 on La Rambla - awesome hotel.
