Very very bad place

visited Hotel Costes in Paris on April 24, 2026 at 22:30 with my daughter, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the staff were cold and unwelcoming. We were shown to a table at the back with little courtesy. When I noticed that my chair was unstable and asked to move to a nearby empty table, we were first told yes, but then the decision was suddenly changed without any explanation. This felt both confusing and disrespectful. The service throughout the evening was unprofessional and unfriendly. We did not feel welcome at any point. The manager on duty that evening was particularly rude and dismissive. When I questioned the situation, I was told in a very blunt manner that I could “email if I wanted,” which felt disrespectful and inappropriate. The interior is beautiful and the food was good, but unfortunately that does not make up for the poor service and how guests are treated. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this place.

Restaurant

My husband, son, and I chose this place for dinner. The staff were friendly, but the service was very slow. The restaurant was stylish and the ambiance was lovely, but I can't say the same for the food. The flavor was lacking. I think we paid this price just for the restaurant and its name.

On Monday, January 19th, at around 8:00 PM, I encountered an unexpected situation at Hôtel Costes in Paris. At the entrance, a tall red-haired woman who asked for reservations and introduced herself as a “manager,” denied entry in a completely arbitrary and unnecessarily discourteous manner. The experience was less about personal inconvenience and more about the current state of hospitality and what luxury truly means today. Luxury no longer lives solely in décor, music, or a well-designed menu. It begins at the first point of contact. Prestige isn’t defined by who gets in, but by how people are welcomed. Courtesy is not an accessory; it is the foundation of any serious brand. I’m sharing this not out of indignation, but as someone who works in the cultural, design, and hospitality space — where the future of luxury is increasingly shaped by behavior, not by theatrics. Enduring elegance is behavioral. And behavior reveals itself most clearly at the door.
