Wonderful Birthday treat stay.
We stayed at Raffles at the end of a trip to Thailand as we had been to Singapore before and loved it. It was my 60th birthday during our stay so it was my birthday treat. What can I say - WOW! We loved it, we were extremely well cared from the moment we arrived. All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, we checked in in our suite, we had a courtyard view suite. There was a small lounge area, good sized bedroom, and a beautiful marble bathroom with freestanding bath. All the controls for the room were via electronic pad, and the room was a wonderful combination of old colonial charm and up to the minute technology. The bad was comfortable. We took part in a hotel history tour during our stay which was so interesting. We were shown old phots of the hotel and told how it had grown and changed since it was first built. we were shown some antique artefacts which were still on display and had a tour of the presidential suite as it was empty. Roslee, our guide also had lots of gossip to impart about some of the former famous guests! he also took phots of our group and emerald them to us along with the history photos. This tour is free and only available to hotel guests. We very much enjoyed relaxing at the rooftop swimming pool, it was surprisingly relaxing and quiet there considering it is the middle of a busy city. And the showers are lovely with toiletries and towels to use, which we availed ourselves of on the last day as we had a late flight so relaxed by the pool, until it was time to go to the airport. Another advantage of staying at Raffles is being able to book a table at the Long Bar! We enjoyed walking past the perpetual queue and giving our name at the door and getting straight combination of some buffet items and table service, and we ate in the courtyard every day rather than inside, but it was nice to have the option. Finally I must thank all the staff for making my birthday very special. We visited the zoo in the morning and there was a lovely chocolate birthday cake waiting in our room on our return. Then we were relaxing after going out for dinner when there was a knock on our door, and Irene who had checked us in hand delivered a bag full of gifts including Raffles Earl grey Tea which I had joked about when she checked us in. When we visited before and had afternoon tea I had enjoyed it so much we had bought some to take home , so I said it was the main reason for coming to stay! There was also some chocolates and other gifts from the Raffles Boutique. We would not hesitate to return it was such a wonderful experience staying at Raffles.
