We were booked into this hotel on 2 different occasions by the tour company we were travelling with. In both of the rooms we were allocated the carpets were absolutely filthy and they looked as if they had not seen a coat of paint on the walls in years. The in room safes didn't work, the bathrooms had mould around the shower tray and in the grout around the tiles. Both rooms were noisy even with the windows closed and curtains drawn you could hear the traffic from the nearby road, we also had a burglar alarm go off at 0530 one morning. When we asked the girl on the front desk if she could recommend a restaurant close to the hotel for an evening meal she was clueless. I asked for a glass of white wine from the bar to be told I could only have red wine by the glass and if I wanted white wine I would have to buy a bottle, ridiculous! If it had been my choice I would not have select this hotel.

Charming hotel with Great Staff

I stayed at Eugenia Hotel several times during my two-month trip to Ecuador and I highly recommend it. The hotel has old world charm and has been renovated so it is very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly. They helped me with taxis, arranged an airport shuttle, stored my luggage for free, and helped me with tourist information and recommendations. The front desk is staffed 24/7 which made me feel safe and was great when I needed some early morning taxis. The hotel provides free breakfast with eggs, croissants, fruit, juice, and coffee or tea in their beautiful and sunny dining room. One day I had an early tour and they made me a breakfast to go. I liked the location. Quito is a big city with some sketchy areas. This area felt relatively safe and calm. There are a number of good restaurants within a two-block radius and a supermarket a block and a half away. I was traveling solo and felt comfortable going out to eat at night. There's also a nice museum nearby.

Great Hotel

I went here as a traveler and i can say this was a very good hotel. The breakfast offered was tasty and honestly a good breakfast. Delicious fresh food and fruits readily available. It was also a gorgeous place. This hotel i stayed at for three days out of my 8 day travel and will say that i’ve never felt not safe there. One room i stayed in unfortunately wouldn’t lock correctly and they fixed the problem then and there and gave us a new room after concluding they had to get a repair man to ensure our safety. They also had an elevator there which was the first i’ve seen in the several hotels i went while traveling which was unexpected but super nice for luggage when they have several levels. They also had fresh filtered water always ready and available even when it ran out. The three separate rooms i’ve slept in as i returned to the hotel on a separate occasion were clean and comfortable. The people were warm and friendly highly recommend as a traveler.

Nice hotel, great staff

I stayed at the Eugenia Hotel for 2 days before and 2 days after a trip to the Amazon jungle. The room and bath room were both roomy and clean. Lots of windows, full size bath tub/shower, hot water and great water pressure. Every single member of the staff that I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Included breakfast consisted of eggs, potatos, pancakes, varied fruits, bread and croissants, varied juices, coffee, tea and more. The hotel is a taxi ride from old town but is close to many restaurants and bars. My room was quiet and faced a courtyard. I also stored a large bag at the hotel while I went to the jungle.

Beautiful old building

We stayed only two nights, and really enjoyed the details of the interior design and decoration. Additionally, as we were "stranded" on New Years Eve and Day (that part of Quito basically shuts down over the holidays), the staff was extremely helpful in locating a place for us to eat, and helping to make other arrangements. They had a New Years Eve celebration in the parking lot where they burned an effigy in typical Ecuadorian tradition. The bed was extremely comfortable, too! Finally - they had a special taxi available to both pick us up and take us to the airport, which was very convenient.
